What Is This Job?

FIFO Utility Workers help keep a remote camp running. The work covers cleaning, kitchen support, laundry and general camp services. It is one of the most common entry points into FIFO work in Australia.

Typical Duties
  • Cleaning rooms, kitchens and bathrooms
  • Kitchen hand and food service support
  • Laundry and linen change-over
  • Restocking amenities and supplies
  • General camp maintenance support
Day In The Life
  1. Early start with a pre-shift safety meeting
  2. Clean a set list of rooms or kitchen areas
  3. Lunch break in the mess hall
  4. Afternoon laundry, restocking or kitchen support
  5. Finish shift, eat dinner, rest in your room
Typical Rosters
  • 2 weeks on / 1 week off
  • 8 days on / 6 days off
  • Even-time rosters on some sites
Physical Requirements
  • Standing and walking for long shifts
